On Saturday July 7th, Lakeside Park was visited by the Woodstock tribute band “Back to the Garden 1969.” They shook local Pawling residents with a phenomenal performance of all the classic rock of Woodstock.
Formed in 2009 by lead singer Gary Adamson for the 40th anniversary of the Woodstock spectacular, the band will celebrate its 4th anniversary this August 26th and has been spreading the Woodstock influence around the New York State tri-county area.
The band features numerous songs by Jefferson Airplane, Santana, Janis Joplin, The Who, and others. They are made up of five other performers other than Adamson, each occupying his own special place in “Back to the Garden 1969”with each band member a stand out for musicianship and talent, going the extra mile by playing more than one instrument and taking a turn as featured lead vocalist.
Gary Adamson is the lead singer and guitarist but can also be seen playing the keyboard, and drums. Pawling resident Bob Fonseca switches between the many catchy riffs on the keyboard to those of the guitar. Mike Garner paces the band and is featured on bass guitar. Larry Kelly plays the guitar and plays all the psychedelic solos everyone knows and loves. Annie Masciandaro hits it off on the drum set giving the band its bold sound. The last and newest edition to the band, Fred Walcott is featured on percussion. Walcott creates a beautiful addition to the band giving them that extra flare and twist to all their songs.
All in attendance that night had an urge to tap their feet or even get out of their chairs and just dance. Happiness, and fond memories seemed to be the order of the night!
If you missed this performance, Back to the Garden 1969 will be at Pawling’s Towne Crier on August 26th for their 4-year anniversary show. For more information please visit their website http://www.backtothegarden1969.com/
