H. G. Fairfield Arts Center for the Environment is proud to host a 1960âs-themed production of William Shakespeareâs A Midsummer Nightâs Dream at Lakeside Park, in the Town of Pawling, on Saturday, August 11th, 2012, at 8:30 p.m.
The Town of Pawlingâs Recreation Departmentâs Childrenâs Summer Theater Programâs performance, Welcome to Camp Koolata, will be performed in the Lathrop Center at Lakeside Park beginning at 7p.m, also on August 11th. Welcome to Camp Koolata is written and directed by Camille Ludington. Immediately following in Lakeside Parkâs open-air pavilion will be A Midsummer Nightâs Dream. Strange Bedfellows, with Diana Green directing the company, will perform midsummer mayhem in a setting reminiscent of the Athenian Forest in Shakespeareâs script.
âWe are thrilled to present the Childrenâs Shakespeare Theaterâs adult troupe, Strange Bedfellows,â says Kathie F. Freston, H. G. Fairfield Arts Founder.
âWe are doubly thrilled that the adultsâ performance will follow the conclusion of Pawlingâs childrenâs performance. The public will have the opportunity to see two wonderful performances in the same evening, in the same park, on separate stages,â she added.
H. G. Fairfield Artsâ Midsummer Mayhem is just one of the many must-see summer theatrical attractions in Dutchess, Putnam, Westchester Counties, and NYâs Mid-Hudson Valley.
âWe have a wealth of culture and entertainment, talent and the Arts, all around us,â remarks Ms Freston. The Childrenâs Shakespeare Theater, founded by Diana Green and based in Palisades, NY, in Rockland County and the Lower Hudson Valley, is dedicated to giving young performers âan opportunity to experience Shakespeare’s words and deep understanding of the human experience and to help them to translate their experience to a broader audience of children and adultsâ www.childrensshakespeare.org.
âWorking in summer stock theater as a young college student,â Ms. Freston reveals, âwas a highlight for me while growing up. Being able to put Arlo Guthrie on stage for the first time is icing on the cake, proving âBig things on stage can happen in little townsâ.â
Not âfluentâ in Shakespeare? âNae ta worry!â exclaims Kim Blacklock, H. G. Fairfield Arts President;
âCostumes from the â60s and a hippie attitude to match may well dust off those neuronal memory chips. Make sure to save the date to come join us,â Ms. Blacklock says.
