PPR’s Sunset Spectacular: A Huge Success

July 20, 2012

On Saturday July 14th, Pawling Public Radio hosted a free concert at Murrow Park  featuring the town’s local talent.  Approximately 200 people showed up for the concert and were very supportive of all the performers.

The lineup of talent began at 6 pm and ran until about 9:30 pm. The talent consisted of vocalists, pianists, dancers, guitarists, and even speed stackers.

The master of ceremonies Mike Shustak and John Leahy introduced the DeHuff  Family Band as the opening act.  The concert featured the following local talent throughout the evening (in order of appearance): Melissa Jones, Sean Snow, Courtney Osborne and Angela Hill, Christopher Barberesi, Giana Pizzolongo, Cara Leahy, Joan Roberts, LeeAnne Williams, Katherine Bogelin, Melissa Jones, Phil DeHuff and Len Lavalee, PPR Board Member Kurt Schlesinger, Barbara Rush, Leah Eichinger, the band Welcome to Greenhaven, former PPR intern and current volunteer Zack Silva and his brother Alex, John Comerford, and the band Evolutionary War.

The night was filled with fun, food, and music for all people who attended. PPR sold burgers, hot dogs, watermelon, and bottled water to raise money for the station and feed the much appreciated audience.

This concert  also served to bring  people back to Murrow Park and help restore it to its former glory as a public hotspot.

PPR would like to thank all the people who came to see the concert, all the performers, the volunteers, and especially Joan Roberts for organizing the event.

This concert was the first of its kind, but certainly will not be the last. PPR plans to host more events like the concert in the future. If you have any ideas for another event, or would like to be a PPR volunteer… please contact us at info@pawlinpublicradio.org
