Pawling Fireman’s Parades 2012

Every summer local volunteer fire departments hold their annual carnivals, usually their biggest fund raiser of the year.

No carnival is complete without a Fireman’s Parade, when neighboring departments come and “strut their stuff,” and trophies are given out for various categories, such as Best Engine, Best Ladder, Best in Regulation Uniform, Most Marchers, and Best Overall. The categories vary from fire department to fire department.

The Pawling Fire Department started it’s parade season taking trophies in three of the last four parades they participated in. Starting with Amenia the beginning of July, Pawling’s Fire Department took Best in Regulation Uniform or Best in Coats. They took home four trophies from Dover, one for their band, and Best Color Guard, Best in Coats, and Best Apparatus 1999 or Older. In Patterson, they took Best Color Guard and top honors of Best Overall.

Pawling’s Fire Department has three more parades coming up, their own on August 3rd, (where they are expecting at least 20 other fire departments to take part) the County Convention in Hopewell on August 10th, and in Kent, CT on August 24th.
