The Putnam Arts Council cordially invites the public to a unique summer event at Belle Levine Art Center in Mahopac on Sunday, August 19. Join us for Emerging Excellence, a collaborative dance installation featuring dance, visual art and music by trained performers from the region who are currently pursuing their art, primarily in university programs. Proceeds will benefit the Putnam Arts Council and support the creative programs the Council manages.
The Benefit will feature contemporary dance, installation art, visual art and music integrating the audience into the process. Somers talent Maggie Foster of Boston Conservatory will stage, choreograph and dance in both performances and has invited colleagues, Elizabeth Cappabianca (Brooklyn) and Shannon McColl (New Jersey) of Boston Conservatory; Eliana Wenick (Katonah) who attends the Alvin Ailey School at Fordham and Colette Dong (Yorktown) who attends Elon, to perform to music by Jim Walsh of Mahopac. Visual artist Leksi Kolanko of Vassar, will be creating an audience participation piece of wearable art and will display her artwork in the Art Center’s entry.
Add in our annual fine arts photography exhibit with work by PAC’s resident group, The Photographic Eye and the Digital Discussion Group, with additional prints on hand for sale along with raffle prizes, a silent auction and wine and cheese at both receptions, and we guarantee it to be an exciting and interesting way to spend a Sunday afternoon/ evening on the Hill in Mahopac.
There are two performances, scheduled for 5:00 or 7:30pm, and tickets are only $10.00. Reservations preferred as seating is limited. Call 845-803-8622 to reserve a space. Additional details are available at putnamartscouncil.com but tickets can not be purchased online.
