The Town of Southeast Cultural Arts Coalition (TOSCAC) invites you to “A Maestro’s Memoirs,” a fundraising benefit on Friday, October 12, 2012, to support its endeavors at Old Town Hall.  This extraordinary event will be an elegant and fun-filled evening featuring cocktails, a 4-course dinner and a silent auction of local artists’ work. Fabulous entertainment will be provided by Don Pippin, Southeast’s own Broadway Maestro, in a scintillating account of his life in the music world.  Pippin, along with his featured Broadway guest stars Nat Chandler and Tony Award winner Debbie Gravitte, will delight all with an insider’s recollections of some of the greatest shows and talent in Broadway history, all while at the piano performing some of the best-loved songs of musical theater.
Don Pippin, one of Broadway’s most honored conductors, has had an illustrious history in the theater for half a century as a conductor, music director, arranger and songwriter.  Pippin served as Musical Director of New York’s famed Radio City Music Hall for 14 years.  He was a recipient of a Tony Award for Oliver!, an Emmy Award for Broadway Sings Jule Styne, a Drama Desk Award for outstanding musical direction and commitment to the theatre, and a Columbia Gold Record Award for the original cast album of A Chorus Line.  His Broadway credits include La Cage Aux Folles, Cabaret, Mack and Mabel, Seesaw, Applause, Mame, Woman of the Year, Dear World, Jerry’s Girls, Oliver! and A Chorus Line.  On television, he was Musical Director for An Evening with Alan Jay Lerner, seen on “Live from Lincoln Center,” as part of PBS’s “Great Performances” series, and for Jerry Herman’s Emmy-nominated CBS musical film “Mrs. Santa Claus,” starring Angela Lansbury.  In 1993, he arranged and conducted Marilyn Horne’s performance at President Bill Clinton’s Inauguration.  As an accomplished pianist, he has accompanied such greats as Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Ann Hampton Callaway, Julie Andrews, Alfred Drake, Chita Rivera, Angela Lansbury, Marilyn Horne, and Debbie Voigt.  Mr. Pippin has conducted an amazing list of symphony orchestras throughout the United States, Great Britain, and Israel, and has made over 85 recordings.
The event will be held at the Starr Ridge Banquet Center, 38 Starr Ridge Road, Brewster, New York 10509.  The evening will begin with cocktails at 6:30 pm.  Dinner will be served at 7:30 followed by “A Maestro’s Memoirs” shortly afterward.  Tickets are $100 per person, $185 per couple, and $850 for a table of 10 persons.
The silent auction includes works by artists recently featured at the Studio Around the Corner, including: Dawn Willis, Michele Peterson, Bryan Shea, Philip Jensen Carter and Karen Jacobs.

TOSCAC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. Funds raised will go to support the Cultural Arts Coalition, the Studio Around the Corner, and the Coalition’s goal of reopening the Theater at Old Town Hall.  We expect this to be a popular event, so please contact TOSCAC at toscac2010@gmail.com or call 845-519-4690 by October 7th to reserve your seats!
