From Queens to Front Street, Patterson

It has been pretty exciting around here for the past few weeks with all the festivities of the season taking place, so if you have a chance to add to your enjoyment, you might want to stop in at the Front Street Gallery, Patterson to view a very creatively appointed exhibit entitled MADE IN QUEENS.

Curated by Jeanette Rodriguez and Nancy Gesimondo, 11 talented artists are participating in this fascinating multi-media  “knock your socks off” display of their works. Pictured here are:  Conrad Stojack who is beginning a massive citywide arts project recycling and refurbishing old city parking meters into art works;  Diane Martin  with  “Days Blue” and “Lily Gold” two monotypes with pastel colored pencil and collage; and Anne Cafta’s works depict “Luna Park Gate” (Coney Island) 2014 and “Coney Island Cyclone” both done in wool felt with hand embroidery beads. Karen Kettering Dimit’s “NYC Water Tower  pt 2 #3”, composed of mixed media mosaics,  drew much positive attention at the show; “Metrocard” by Casey Concelmo was created with Egg Tempera and 23 carat gold leaf on Panels; Junko Yamada exhibited a Collage on Rice paper entitled “Kyoto Nenenzada III.”

In addition,  artists participating in the exhibit with many more beautiful works of art are;  Elsie E. Apacible; Michelle Cheilkin; Karen Fitzgerald; Sandra Mack Valencia; and Emily O’Leary.

Joe and I really enjoyed this exhibition, and found it extremely  interesting. We agreeded  as we left, that each work possessed a special uniqueness.  MADE IN QUEENS will be shown through January.  If you are planning to visit the Front Street Gallery, please call for Gallery Hours:  917-880-5307.
