HOW TO MAKE UP SHORT PLAYS QUICKLY OFFERED AT ARTS ON THE LAKE
Responding to the need to develop new material for its Open Mouth series, Arts on the Lake is offering How to Make Up Short Plays Quickly, a Community Workshop open to all on Sunday, June 10, at 3 pm.
The workshop will take place at the recently renovated Lake Carmel Arts Center, 640 Route 52, in Lake Carmel.
Using props, interviews, and an ability to deal with the unexpected, “the inherent sense of storytelling that we all have will come out,” said Arts on the Lake’s Artistic Director James Shearwood, who will be leading the workshop.
Open to all levels of experience from much to none, Shearwood said he expects several skits or short plays to result from the two-hour workshop. “Our vaudeville series, Open Mouth, is a venue for whatever is developed that warrants a larger audience,” said Shearwood.
Public admission to the Community Workshop is $5, which is waived for students and members of Arts on the Lake. Reservations should be made to rsvp@artsonthelake.org or 845 228-2685.
The Community Workshops are made possible, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Cuomo and the NY State Legislature and with public funds from Putnam County. These grant programs are managed and monitored by the Putnam Arts Council.
Previous workshops in this series were “How to Use Your Digital Camera, “How to Draw a Face” and “How to Write the Publishable Story.”
Information on all upcoming events at Arts on the Lake is available at www.artsonthelake.org or (845) 228-2685.
