The members II is the last of the Kent Art Associations shows for their regular season. The Members II Show runs now through Columbus Day, October 12 and this past Saturday, September 19th at a reception in the Gallery KAA past president Connie Horton presented Awards of Merit to five of its member artists: Neade Reade for his Watercolor, “Cows and Afternoon Shade”; Maureen Keough for her Pastel, “Tea time”, Carl Chaiet for his Ink Drawing, “Cowboy Dreams”; Linda Pulatti for her Oil, “Rhinecliff to Kingston”; and Carol T. Moore’ for her Pastel, “Overlook”. The judges for this show are: Trudy Waller, Paul Gould and Pamela Reese. Entries in this show are the works of the talented and professional member artists of the KAA who have been painting and sculpting all summer; this show exhibits the best of their work; featuring both representational and non-representational art it is a show of great variety, energy and as always, excitement.
This week on Sept. 23-25 is pastel hall of Fame artist, Frank Federico’s 3 day workshop titled, “A Touch of Autumn, Pastel over Gouache “.
Coming on October 10 is the KAA’s Gala Fund Raiser, featuring a ‘Plein Air ‘Paint Out and both a Silent and Live Auction. Rain or shine, artists are invited to “Paint Out “ of doors from 10 am to 4:30; at the end, framed and possibly still wet the finished art work will be auctioned off at 5 pm by Clive Lodge, best known as the English voice of Kent Quiz Night. Also running all day is a Silent Auction of additional works donated by artists not participating in the paint out. Artists who wish to participate and visitors may contact the KAA Gallery or go to the KAA website for information.
Exhibiting on the front lawn through Columbus Day are two works in steel by Sculptor Pete Rembetsy titled: ‘Icarus’ and ‘Up the Corporate Building’. Other upcoming events at The gallery include The Northeast Watercolor Society’s annual show on Oct 18-31st; and Kent photographer Karen Chase will have a show of her work November 5-15th.
The KAA Gallery is located at 21 South Main St. (south of the traffic light/monument on Rt. 7) in Kent, CT. It is open Thurs-Sun 1-5 pm, plus Monday holidays. There is no admission charge and all works on exhibit are for sale.
