THE HUDSON VALLEY PLEIN AIR PAINTERS are displaying many magnificent works of art by over 40 area artists at the A. Eric Arctander Gallery , Putnam Arts Council. What makes this exhibit unique is the fact that all works have been painted on location in a variety of media . Most are depict scenes from the Hudson Valley and beyond. Many will be recognized by the viewer. I spoke to Jamie Grossman, President and one of the organizers of the Lower Hudson Valley Plein Air Painters Organization at their opening reception on May 2. She explained that artists were encouraged to exhibit and sell their work at local venues by invitation. Joyce Picone, Executive Director, Putnam Arts Council and Jeanne Demotses, Accomplished Artist and Painting Instructor also organized the show. Artists were on hand to discuss their paintings throughout the evening. Anyone interested in joining the LHVPAP is invited to contact the Putnam Arts Council, located on Kennicut Hill Rd, Mahopac, NY (845-803-8622 / www.putnamartscouncil. com) .
