“It’s a new day, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new world for me, and I’m feeling good…” as the song goes. It is a new year. What new do you want to create for 2014? If the cynical you says, “Same old, same old,” ask yourself, “Why?” Why don’t you feel you have the power to shape your world with your desires? Your dreams? Your goals? Your longings?
If it all feels too big, commit to changing one habit that doesn’t serve you. Look in the area of health, relationships, work, play, attitude, finances, or spirituality. One step in the right direction, practiced regularly can create massive change in how your life looks and feels.
My husband and I are doing a 5/2 Fast Diet. It was researched and presented in a BBC show called Eat, Fast, and Live Longer by Michael Mosley, a physician. It consists of five days of eating normally and 2 days of caloric reduction down to 500 -600 for the 24-hour period. It is a small change that is reaping huge change for us.
We are losing the extra pounds we have carried around for a while; our blood glucose, growth factor and our other blood related numbers are improving for optimum health. But most interesting, I am more clear-headed and more in touch with my emotional and physical self than when I was eating more calories, specifically carbohydrates such as bread and pasta. From this one change in our diet I feel lighter, clearer and more present.
So what small changes are you wanting and willing to make that will impact your life in a big way? What support and resources do you need to garner to help you be successful?
There is nothing more disappointing than starting the New Year off all inspired with resolve, only to feel defeated by March. How can you value yourself enough, love yourself enough to have it be worth the discipline it takes to consistently make the change until it is second nature?
This is the time to really take a look and ask, “How can I create a life that makes me want to get up and walk boldly and joyous into each day?”
Voice your resolution as a declaration of what you desire in the new dawn, new day, new world, where you are feeling good. I’m rooting for you!
