The local Hannaford’s on Route 22 in Pawling, continues to be involved with our community. Their customer service manager, Emma, wanted to let everyone know what Hannaford’s is up to.
They are donating a plethora of books to the Pawling Library, all of which will educate readers on famous POC, female leaders, and diversity and inclusion.
In celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8th, they are donating books to the Pawling Elementary School 4th grade girls and their female teachers. The first is titled “I am Confident, Brave & Beautiful – A Coloring Book for Girls,” and the second is “Bold, Brave & Courageous: A NO FEAR Success Guide for Girls,” by Wyjuana T. Montgomery. They chose these books to promote literacy, self-confidence, and self-reflection for the young girls in our community to inspire them to be female leaders.
Hannaford’s is also highlighting three successful female leaders in our community for International Women’s Day; Soledad O’Brien (news anchor), Kim Fontana (Superintendent of Pawling Schools), and Cynthia Kinahan (owner of Pawling Bread Co.).
They have started a donation drop bin for local battered women’s shelters for items they are in need of – i.e. feminine products, household items, socks, underwear, etc.
There will also be drop bins for gently used clothes to go to women looking to re-enter the workforce, who may not have access to business attire.
