Appalachian Trail Shelters & Privies are Closed!

  • *SHELTER AND PRIVY CLOSURE ALERT*

    Effective immediately, the National Park Service is closing all overnight shelters (56 total) and privies (75 total) on land administered by the Appalachian National Scenic Trail Park Office. This includes the 5 Shelters and 5 Privies in New York State.

    **NOTE** Within the Harlem Valley Appalachian Trail Community boundaries are the Telephone Pioneers Shelter & Privy as well as the Wiley Shelter & Privy. Per these directives, these areas are now CLOSED and off-limits for use in any way.**
