One of Pawling’s sensational attractions is Cat Rock. For those hikers who find Pawling’s new Appalachian Trail designation enticing, here’s yet another reason to explore the area… a two mile hike off West Dover Road straight up to Cat Rock!
This trek may seem like a lot of energy spent, but in the end, it is well worth it. Unfortunately most of the hike is uphill with many rocks and tree limbs to navigate, but luckily the view makes up for all the hassle!
Halfway through your journey you have the option to set up camp or continue onward to Cat Rock. At the completion of the hike you are out on a ledge of rocks that towers over most of Pawling. Far up in the sky you can see the beautiful valley unfold right before your eyes.
So, next time you’re looking for something to do, lace up your boots and take a hike up to the Cat Rock, and when you get to the top … see if you can find your house!
