Taconic Sport & Racquet will host the first annual “Kids Serving Hope” Tennis Fundraiser in Dutchess County on Saturday, December 16 from 1-4 pm. The event organizer, Bash Cancer, is a local charity founded by 11-year old and avid tennis player, Sebastian Oré of Pawling, NY.
Fueled by a passion for tennis and their contagious energy, local area kids aim to inspire other children and their families in the Hudson Valley to join them for an afternoon of fun at this special event. The “Kids Serving Hope” event will raise funds for Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children battling pediatric brain tumors and other childhood cancers.
In 2014, Bash began raising funds to help with his grandfathers’ cancer treatments. Sadly, his maternal grandfather lost the battle with cancer in 2015. “All I can say is that I miss my grandpa since he passed away from cancer. So, in his honor I will continue to raise money to help kids BASH cancer!” said Sebastian, when asked about his fundraising efforts.
“At Taconic Sport & Racquet, we dedicate ourselves to the development of the children we work with, and our goal is to bring out the absolute best in our young talent, both on and off the tennis court” said Simon Gale, General Manager and owner of Taconic Sport & Racquet. “That’s why, when we were approached to host the “Kids Serving Hope” event, we were absolutely thrilled to be involved!”
“We are honored to partner with Bash Cancer and Taconic Sport & Racquet to help bring more awareness to childhood cancers. Efforts, like those of kids like Bash are beyond inspiring and help us to continue our mission of serving more children in our backyard. It’s at times like these that we couldn’t be more proud of our Hudson Valley Community and the young minds being cultivated here,” adds Erin Perkins, Executive Director of the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation.
The “Kids Serving Hope” event is open to the public and will include a variety of vendors, tennis demos, pickleball and games for children and adults alike. It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 16 from 1-4 pm at Taconic Sport & Racquet located at 190 Old Sylvan Road, Hopewell Junction, NY.
