When Pawling High School’s Class of 2011 graduates this Friday (June 24th), family and friends will be welcomed with a salutation from Jennifer Bellucci. Jenny has achieved the title of Salutatorian, the student with the second-highest grade point average out of the ninety-nine in her class.
Jenny’s GPA is an astounding 102, made possible by the demanding college-level courses she has taken. Junior year, she took AP Chemistry, AP US History and AP English Language. For her senior year, Jenny challenged herself with AP English Literature, AP Calculus, AP Biology and AP World History.
What’s her secret? “This year I did a lot of outlining to help me get through all my classes,” Jenny states. She also praises her teachers, saying that their hard work made her learning experience much easier. While she would describe both science courses as “challenging,” she expresses that they were also interesting.
Over-achieving Jenny hardly stops with schoolwork. She has a weekend job at Karen’s Diner (“they have great pancakes!” she promises) and participates in a myriad of extracurricular activities. She has been a Peer Leader for all of high school and a representative in Student Council for the last three years. Jenny is also the President of the National Honor Society and a member of the Spanish Honor Society – all of the aforesaid organizations are dedicated to community service and donating to charities.
Not surprisingly, Jenny is also an athlete, participating in both field hockey and ice hockey. “I have a lot of favorite memories from high school,” she explains. “One of my favorites would probably be all my years on the field hockey team.”
Jenny will be attending Quinnipiac University for the University’s Physician Assistant Program. “In the summer, I volunteer in the Putnam Hospital Center,” she says. “I transport patients and deliver medicines and supplies throughout the hospital.” This has given her a taste of what she may expect in the years to come.
However hard working she is, Jenny is also a family girl. “I love catching up with my family whenever possible because we are always running around.” No doubt, her busy family will be in the front row at graduation to recognize Jenny Bellucci, Salutatorian of PHS’s Class of 2011.
