Katie McDougal recently won MVP at the Nanuet Softball Tournament. Pawling Public Radio had the opportunity to talk with this Pawling High School sophomore.
Do you see yourself being involved in softball when you’re an adult? Yes. I see myself being involved in softball when I’m older.
What’s your favorite and least favorite part of the game? My favorite part of the game is just being with my teammates and playing the game I love. My least favorite part of the game is losing.
How do you feel about winning MVP? I’m happy that I won the MVP knowing that all my work on the off season finally paid off.
Who are your biggest supporters? My parents, coaches, and friends. They are always there for me.
What other hobbies do you enjoy? I love being with my friends just hanging out and listening to music.
What do you do to get pumped up before a game? Any traditions? I wear the same yellow socks under my game socks.
How long have you been playing softball? 5 years
How long have you been on the team? I’ve been on varsity for 3 years.
Have you always been a talented pitcher? Who is your coach? I work at my pitching to get better. My coach is Ms. June Lagan.
What influence have your coaches had on you? They always tell me to never give up and to keep trying harder.
Do you plan to play in college and will you be looking specifically for a college with a softball team? I plan to go to college in Florida and play on a softball team. I plan to study Early Childhood Education.
