FrOGS (Friends of the Great Swamp), a nonprofit committed to the research, education and conservation of the Great Swamp, has been selected as a beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program for the month of September.
This program has been designed specifically to support local nonprofits like FrOGS. For every blue Hannaford HelpsReusable Bag with the good karma messaging purchased at the Hannaford store on Route 22 in Pawling during September, FrOGS will receive a $1 donation.
“We are excited to have been selected for this program,” said Dr. Jim Utter, Chairman of FrOGS. “It helps the environment in two ways. People will use fewer plastic bags, which means fewer plastic bags in the swamp and landfills, and they will be supporting an organization dedicated to keeping our local treasure, the Great Swamp, healthy for the years to come.”
Hannaford’s Reusable Bag program was developed to make it “easy for our customers to contribute to their local community and support the environment,” said a company spokesperson. “The goal of the program is to partner with customers to support local nonprofit groups and to reduce needless paper and plastic bag use.” It is part of their commitment to help communities better the place they call “home.”
