Two areas of low pressure heading in our direction will spread snow into our region beginning late this afternoon/evening. As warmer air aloft begins to filter in, it will change the snow to a period of sleet/freezing rain overnight and over to rain by daybreak Tuesday. The rain will taper off to showers early tomorrow afternoon and end completely by day’s end.
The end result will be 3-5 inches of snow into tonight, becoming a wintry mix around midnight, then rain before daybreak Tuesday. Higher elevations above 800 feet are likely to see higher snow totals, but will also change to rain overnight.
For the remainder of the week, at or below normal temperatures are expected with daytime highs in the 40’s and overnight lows in the 20’s or even some teens, with no major storms expected. Remember Wednesday, March 20th is the first day of spring., 2013.
