With support from the Town of Pawling the annual event is moving to Lakeside Park. The Carnival has been a major fund raiser for the Department since 1922. Friday evening will start around 6 p.m. with live music, including a Battle of the Bands, games of chance, loads of food, and of course Bingo, hosted by the Fire Department’s Auxiliary. Due to popular request, mechanical rides and inflatables are back this year.
Also, in conjunction with the Pawling Chamber of Commerce, we are expanding Saturday to include a ‘Community Day’ event with all of the activities from Friday night plus exhibit booths showcasing businesses and not-for-profits from Pawling and surrounding areas. Saturday kicks off with Pawling Fire Department hosting the 2010 Dutchess County Volunteer Firemen’s Association Annual Parade. More than 24 fire departments from six counties are participating. Hundreds of marchers, several bands and dozens of fire apparatus will line up on Coulter Ave and East Main St, step off at 3 p.m., proceed down East Main St., Cross the tracks, then go right on Charles Colman Blvd ending at Lakeside Park. The day will include public safety demonstrations by the Fire Department and other invited organizations, including the return of the very popular Fire Safety House. Summer is typically a time of blood shortage so, with assistance from the Y Leaders Club, we will have a Bloodmobile on site.
We appreciate the support of the Pawling Community, businesses and not-for-profits. If you would like more information, would like to volunteer or exhibit, please go to our carnival website www.pawlingcarnival.com. If you would like to help us plan the day, please take the on-line survey.
See you in August!
