On July 1, 2012, New York State put into effect the Dignity for All Students Act. This new law directs schools in New York to address bullying and harassment through staff training and implementation of policies and procedures as they relate to these egregious behaviors.
Because of our unique position in the community as both a media outlet and an educational, not-for-profit public organization, Pawling Public Radio has been given the opportunity to introduce Operation Respect to the school community in Pawling. As a public service to our schools, its children, and its educators, we will be offering workshops designed and presented by this highly acclaimed national anti-bullying organization. Over the last decade, Operation Respect has conducted training and workshops, both nationally and internationally, promoting Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) through a curriculum designed to be integrated into all educational programs on the local level. Operation Respect has successfully provided this crucial instruction to hundreds of schools and thousands of school staff, and is one of the lead organizations to deliver this type of training to the New York City public school system.
Pawling Public Radio has embraced the challenge of raising the funds for this necessary educational outreach community project, and we invite you and your organization to partner with us in this endeavor. Your organization’s name and logo will become a part of all promotional and marketing materials, including brand placement on PPR’s web site and on-air recognition, and will be included in all public relations submissions by us to other media outlets. PPR is privileged to be given the opportunity to sponsor this community-building enterprise, and we hope you will join us in this worthwhile venture. It is one that will affect the lives of our children in a most positive and profound way, for years to come.
Donations to this program may be made to: Pawling Public Radio (Operation Respect) and sent to P.O. Box 336, Pawling, New York, 12564. All donations to Pawling Public Radio are tax deductible.
