As part of our mission to support local education in our area schools, WPWL’s internship program continues this summer…
Pawling Public Radio is looking for several ambitious students to embark on a 6-8 week program designed to teach and build upon several key skills necessary for success in a career in broadcast radio and media. The intern will come into the studio 10-15 hrs/week (flexible per availability) and will complete three designed modules:
Head Engineer Gene Garnes will teach a professional course on FCC requirements and guidelines in preparation for FCC certification, which is highly desired for media work.
Our team of engineers will teach you the ins-and-outs of audio engineering, including working with a soundboard, editing software, various physical and digital media, and editorial guidance when piecing together a program.
The Programming Committee will work with you to pitch and develop various radio show ideas and provide editorial oversight on current community shows.
In addition to three key modules, the intern will have opportunities to engage in local community events and write original features for publication on the PPR website.
Must be a current High School or College student.
Must be local to Pawling or the Hudson Valley, at least for the duration of the program.
