The Dover Town Theatre will be performing Disney’s “My Son Pinocchio Jr.” next weekend. The show’s cast and crew is made up of Dover students from ages 6-17. The show is being directed by Beth Page-Lang. The show is an adaptation of the classic fairytale Pinocchiowritten from Pinocchio’s father Geppetto’s perspective. The shows fun songs and heartfelt humor develop the idea of family. “My Son Pinocchio Jr.” is a fantastic, family-friendly show!
The cast and crew have been working three hours a day, three days a week, since the end of school to put on this production. Summer theatre is a great opportunity for children and teenagers to develop their public speaking, coordination, and creative skills. It is also a great opportunity for community members to bring their expertise and experience to the stage. Director Beth Page-Lang said that, “Working with this group of incredibly talented local kids has been a dream come true. Their passion, enthusiasm and sense of camaraderie inspires me on a daily basis. I am so thankful to be a part of what is sure to be a wonderfully entertaining show.”
Mrs. Lang has done a fabulous job bringing a group of young people together to create an amazing performance. Local actress Tori DeGrenier said that, “Some of the challenges were the big numbers in the play, but Beth is really good with the little kids and we learned it really fast.” Directors and actors alike have dedicated their time to showcase Dover’s inspiring, creative, community.
Please make time with your families to see “My Son Pinocchio Jr.” on Friday August 15th, and Saturday August 16th at 7 p.m. The show takes place at The Music Hall in Amenia. Tickets are $6 for adults, and $3 for seniors, children under 12, and students with ID over 12. Come see some of Dover’s best!
