Gene Garnes
Trustee & Chief Engineer

Gene is a 45- year veteran of the broadcast industry. His father was a radio engineer and his mother worked as a music clearance editor for a NYC radio station. Gene began his commercial work in radio at WNBC Radio in 1979, as a vacation relief engineer and by the end of the summer, he became staff. In 1988, he transferred to television operations working on various engineering assignments. In 2015, Gene retired as a digital production services engineer. Gene joined Pawling Public Radio in 2009 as an Engineering Advisor and is now the station’s Chief Engineer. He lives in nearby Poughquag, is married and the father of two grown children, one who works in the broadcast field as an avid editor. Gene holds an FCC Radio telephone license and is also a licensed amateur radio operator.
