The Young Artist Talent Search returns to the Towne Crier Cafe after a successful run last year which attracted young musicians from the entire Hudson Valley & beyond — as far away as the Adirondacks, Boston and Maryland! Young performers ages 17 and under who sing, play an instrument, write songs and/or perform with bands will have another opportunity to showcase their talents on the legendary Towne Crier Cafe stage in Pawling, NY on Sundays beginning now thru December 2, with the finale & award ceremony on Sunday, December 16.
The Towne Crier, founded and still operated by Phil Ciganer after four decades, has presented some of the finest musicians from around the country and all over the world, some of whom started at a young age and have gone on to become internationally recognized, grammy-winning artists. Some of these that started at a very young age at the Towne Crier include Bela Fleck, Ani DiFranco, Rufus Wainwright, Alison Krauss, Shemekia Copeland and Josh Ritter as well as many others. Ciganer has joined forces with Suanne Elisabeth, herself a seasoned producer of many events in theHudsonValley and in theIthaca area, to host these events in an effort to seek out some of the finest, budding young talent that this region has to offer.
Young Artist Talent Search’s Executive Producer, Suanne Elisabeth of Gutsy Woman Productions, and her team of industry professionals started the Young Artist Talent Search last year and uncovered a wealth of talent. Many of last year’s contestants will likely return to show the progress they’ve made in the past year, but the culturally rich Hudson Valley will produce many more undiscovered musical prodigies during this opportunity for young talent to “show their stuff”.
Grammy-winner/ music producer/ CEO of The Consultancy, John Battiloro, who will again be one of the respected judges for this event, said “I have worked for over 37 years in the music business — cultivating talent, working with professionals, celebrities and amateurs alike — but I have never seen the type of talent in this event, including lyrics actually make sense from songwriters only 11 years old!”
“The organization and thoroughness of these events are always right on point, and that really makes a difference. It takes a lot to pull off something of this size, and Suanne Elisabeth uses all the right skills and techniques to produce it,” says James Lyles, aka DJ Sizzle/ CEO Sizzle Entertainment
“It’s been a real joy to host an event for the young artist who spends so much time going to music lessons and practicing but has limited opportunities to perform on a real stage,” says, Suanne Elisabeth, event producer. “The Towne Crier is the perfect venue to produce an event if you’re looking for an intimate and personal setting.”
Many of our past performers have moved forward in their careers and are making great progress in being noticed in the entertainment arena. Schuyler Iona Press is featured in the Indie movie, “Teresa Is A Mother,” which is being screened at the Orlando Film Festival; Zerena Lupo and Kristina Rose have both performed at The Apollo in NYC; and Sam Gleason, The Knox Sisters and many others can be seen in local arenas performing their music to a wide spread audience in Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties.
