The American Dental Society of the 9th District has honored Dr. Thomas Bloom with the Richard G. Spolzino Humanitarian Care Award for the ongoing educational outreach programming that he created for the children of Dutchess County.
Four years ago Dr. Bloom developed the children’s play, “Happy Tooth Visits the Dentist,” which has been performed for over 25,000 children throughout the county. Supported by contributions of educational handouts and toothpaste samples from Colgate and Crest, Dr. Bloom and his fellow dental thespians have brought dental care to life with his allegorical characters such as Evil Tooth Decay, Professor Know It All, Happy Tooth, Dr. Feel Good, and Captain Fluoride.
His long standing presence in the dental community includes over 35 years of hands-on experience. He received his degree in Dentistry and Dental Surgery from New York University, and served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Dentistry there from 1973 to 1976. He is a diplomat of the American Academy of Head, Neck, and Facial Pain, and has served on the North Regional Board of Dental Examiners since 1972. He has also served as the President of The Dutchess County Dental Society.
Dr. Bloom’s Dental Practice is located at 217 Old Route 22, Pawling, New York.
