The Pawling High School Girls Varsity Tennis team attended a 3.5 hour workshop on how to teach children ten years and younger the game of tennis. The new methodology includes appropriate sized nets , racquets and low compression balls. The proper sizing facilitates a fun experience for the young player. They no longer have to deal with racquets that are too heavy to maneuver, balls that bounce too high and fly too fast. The lower nets, more appropriate for the “10 and Under”, allow for more successful rally’s.
The team gave two free clinics, one in December open to Pawling Elementary school and one in February to the local Brownie troop. Both events took place in the school gym, no adult tennis court required.
