This month’s Pawling Board of Education (BOE) update includes three significant happenings.
First, there was a BOE vacancy created by the resignation of Tony Pollidore. The BOE will be filling this position in the next few months. If you are interested in joining the board, please forward your letter of interest to the Board Of Education by December 31st, 2012 (pawlingboe@pcsdny.org).
Second, there was a significant budget surplus identified from last year. The public is still awaiting the final financial documents to see exactly how large the surplus is, but it is somewhere in the ballpark of $1.5 million beyond the surplus that was already identified at the end of last year.
Finally, the BOE announced that they will be putting forth a proposition for public vote on December 18th, 2012. This proposition includes a bus garage to be constructed on the Middle/High School campus (currently we are renting space to house our buses) and health and safety updates to existing buildings – fixing bathrooms and the like.
