Flowering or Blooming Teas
Interestingly, there is no definitive documented origin to the appearance of teas that upon subject to boiling water open into beautiful works of art.
While the art is visually enjoyed so also is it's product, a wonderful tea to drink.
Some place it's origins in the royal courts of 10th century China. Others say the art form began in the Yellow Mountains of China late in the 19th century. Still other tea historians state it as a relatively modern creation of the mid-1980s in those Yellow Maintains from where it was marketed to the world. What is known is that these are hand crafted works of art made from green, white, and black tea leaves, and flowers like jasmine and marigold, sown together with fine cotton thread. While most often opening into spectacular flowers, other forms are available, such as dancing dragons or blooming heart (pictured) .
These very extraordinary teas and other special and gourmet brews may be taken home to enjoy, or are served by our barista, Igor Krivenko.
