The Pawling Chamber of Commerce meeting for August was a special event designed to recognize the many volunteers who help run the Chamber of Commerce each year. This Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner was held on Tuesday August 20th at the Pawling Mountain Club.
Jay Morales, Pawling Chamber Vice President, opened the meeting by expressing the gratitude of the Town and Chamber members. Village Mayor Robert Liffland also thanked volunteers, saying “I could not do my job without these volunteers. They make Pawling a better community”.
Marie Stewart, Events Chairperson, presented Patty Moore, Director of the Pawling Resource Center, with a check for a donation on behalf of the Dutchess Cruisers, from the Pawling Car Show. Marie also reminded everyone of the Annual Community-Wide Garage Sale to take place in Pawling on September, 7th (Sept. 8th is the rain date). In addition, in October there will be an auction at Mizzentop Day School to benefit Town Beautification, with Sheriff Butch Anderson as the auctioneer.
Marie then presented each volunteer with a certificate and gift. The volunteers staff the Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center on Charles Colman Boulevard, provide information to tourists as well as community members, and promote local businesses. The Visitors Center is open 6 days a week.
