Over 100 years ago, Albert J. Akin, a Pawling benefactor, provided his community with The Quaker Hill Library and an endowment to promote and preserve the history, culture, spiritual roots and educational opportunities of the area.
Now for the 35th year, the Trustees of the Akin Hall Association Scholarship Endowment Fund fulfill that mission by awarding grants to graduating seniors of Pawling High School. Akin Hall Association Scholarship Committee Trustees interview each candidate after reviewing their written essay on service to the community. The scholarship awards are made possible through the generosity of members.
Upon Graduation, as an assist to their college tuition, five students were each awarded $9000.
These well qualified students are: Matthew Bellucci, Kevin Langone, Ashley Loeven, Colin Cess and Michelle Piazza. Their respective college targets are: Villanova University, Binghamton University, Le Moyne College, the University at Buffalo and Binghamton University.
The Akin Hall Scholarship Committee includes Elizabeth Allen, Betsy Brockway, Valerie Busby, David Daniels, Ross Daniels, Stan Scherer and Nancy Tanner.
