The Brewster Theater Company proudly announces the cast of this summer’s production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s The Sound of Music. The show is directed and choreographed by Christopher Gladysz (Anything Goes, Bye, Bye Birdie), whose quality work has pleased BTC’s audiences over the past two seasons. The production’s musical director is Melissa Jones, and stage manager is Judy Marano, both of Brewster. Co-producing the show are Jennifer Darby (Brewster) and Patricia Sebastian of Mahopac.
Playing the signature roles of Maria and Captain von Trapp are Shannon-Courtney Egan (Ridgefield, CT) and Gabriel Montanaro (Brewster). The characters of Max Detweiler and The Baroness are performed by Brewster’s Paul Stein and Cindy Gromofsky. Pam DeHuff (Pawling) plays the Mother Abbess, whose convent includes sisters played by Patricia Sebastian, Diana Bricker-Waller, and LeeAnn Williams. From Bethel, CT comes Matthew Grasso who portrays Rolf.
With so many talented young performers from whom to choose at auditions, director Gladysz decided to dual cast the following actors as the von Trapp children: Jessica Disraeli, Jeffrey Marano, Janet Bergquist, Carly Fields, Lisa Lombardo, Kayla Pinzur, Eric A. Mueller, Ann Krzyzewski, Molly Villodas, Sarra Darby, and Gabriel, Abigail, and Eleanor Harrison. With the exception of Marano, each child will perform in two shows.
The cast is complemented by additional Brewster residents, as well as actors from Westchester, Connecticut, Pawling, Mahopac, Carmel, Newburgh, and Patterson. They include: Richard Harrison, Cristina Balsama, Rosemarie Beahm, Jim Huebell, Joel Feldstein, Carolin Schuetze, Antonia Carey, Neeru Bhambree, Joan Roberts, Katy Loughran, Casey Silidjian, Ashley Villodas, Kristin Wargin, Emma Heubel, Anna Bisogno Papa, Anna Rae Lutz, Kiersten Hecht, Jenna Garecht, Rachel Yee, Marygrace Orfanella, James Hussey, Mark Stein, and Alex Sanyshyn.
The Sound of Music opened on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater in 1959, and still entertains audiences with well-loved songs such as My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Maria, Sixteen Going on Seventeen, and Edelweiss.
The Sound of Music will be performed on August 4, 5 & 6, 2011 at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center. This event is made possible, in part, with public funds from the Artslink
Program, combining or using both State and County dollars. In Putnam County, the Artslink Program is administered by the Putnam Arts Council.
