A MENORAH LIGHTING in celebration of Chanukah, a Jewish Holiday commemorating the re-dedication by the Maccabees of an ancient Temple in Jerusalem where a lamp with only enough pure oil to light the temple for one day burned for eight days, was held on the Village Green in Pawling. Rabbi Zalmen Sandhaus, Pardess Center, Fishkill, led the Community Menorah Lighting with Mayor Robert Liffland and Community Members. Mayor Liffland welcomed and wished all a Happy Chanukah. The festivities included to everyone’s delight, lively traditional Jewish music, “latkes”(potato pancakes) , ” sufganyot” (donuts) and chocolate coins. It was a beautiful evening.
