Pawling Public Radio’s 2012 Summer Interns had a blast at this season’s Farmer’s Market. From meeting community members to the different musical guests every week, the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings was the place to be for them. The weather was beautiful and everyone had such a great time. The community had a place to meet and buy produce from local vendors, and the interns had an opportunity to conduct their “Man on the Green” interviews.
Every Saturday, the interns (Christian, Katherine, and Michael) went out on the hunt for market patrons to interview. Every week there was a new probing question to be answered! The question on July 7th was “What is your favorite Veggie?” The overall favorite veggie at the Farmer’s Market that weekend was kale. July 14th’s question was “What is your favorite Veggie Recipe?” Responses included many favorite delicious recipes, but the most mouth-watering was Bob Arthur’s Zucchini concoction. On July 21st the question of the week was “What do you think of the Farmers Market this year?” The answer was a very positive one. The community seems very pleased with all that this year’s market has to offer. The intern’s last and final question was asked July 28th, “What would you like to see more of at the Farmers Market?” Overall, no one wanted to change a thing (except to have more local venders).
Also, during PPR’s four week stay at the market, the interns had exclusive interviews with musicians who were featured performers for each week. These interviews air at the end of the “Man on the Green” interviews, which are now airing on 101.7FM or steaming on pawlingpublicradio.org. The station is also available on the free app Tune In Radio for your Apple products, so there are lots of ways to listen. The interviews are also embedded into this article, so just click and enjoy! Tune in and hear what your friends, neighbors, and relatives have to say.
The PPR interns would like to thank Terry Deegan, the Farmer’s Market Board and Committee. And a special thank you to everyone in the community who participated in their “Man on the Green” interviews, allowing them to polish their interviewing skills.
Although their internship with Pawling Public Radio has come to an end, the Farmer’s Market will continue through October 6, every Saturday morning from 9 a.m. to noon.
