The Pawling Girls Varsity basketball team started their season with an exciting scrimmage that they won on November 24 against Solomon Schechter and their first season game against Brewster on December 1.
Returning athletes this season are seniors and co-captains Dana Farese and Liz Frost; Juniors Courtney Meissner, Katie Meyer, Devin Meaney; and Sophomore Mackenzie Meissner. New to the team are Juniors Lauren Folchetti and Katherine Mamouzellos and Sophomore Shannon Ward.
Per the coach, “We have a young, positive group this season with six returning players, we have room to grow and improve as the season progresses.”
On December 4 the Pawling Tigers Athletic Club sponsored their 2nd Tip Off Tournament. The Pawling Girls Varsity basketball team played their first game against Palisades Prep. At the end of every quarter the score remained tie – 1Q was 12-12, 2Q was 22-22 and 3Q was 24-24. While the Pawling team played competitively, the team had ten team fouls giving Palisades Prep the opportunity to stay neck in neck. With one minute left on the clock – the score was still tie 38-38 but Pawling was defeated by Palisades Prep with a final score of 40-38. Every girl contributed to the game – high scores by Mackenzie Meissner with 12 points and Shannon Ward with 10.
On the final day of the tournament, December 6, the Pawling Girls Varsity basketball team played the Dover Dragons in the Consolation Game. Pawling held the lead and defeated Dover with a final score of Pawling 46-40.

Pawling Girls travels to Walter Panas on Monday, December 8, for their next season game.
