Welcome to the Pawling Business Report. This is a new and regular addition to the PPR website. This month’s Pawling Chamber of Commerce meeting was held on Tuesday, May 20th and 20 Members of the Chamber were in attendance, including Village Mayor, Rob Liffland; Town Supervisor, David Kelly and Chamber of Commerce President, Peter Cris; along with several area business owners and residents.
This month’s meeting was hosted by the Dutchess Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare, which is located at 9 Reservoir Road in Pawling. As hosts, they provided dinner with several key employees in attendance: Yudi Polatoff, Associate Administer; Kathrin Mueller, Director of Nursing; Richard Bosser, Director of Dietary Services; Ann Sheeley, Director of Marketing, and Stacy Campos, Director of Admissions. The Dutchess Center is a great resource for the community with a 122 bed rehabilitation and skilled nursing center. This modern facility hosts an experienced team of medical professionals along with state-of-the-art equipment. The focus is on providing comprehensive rehabilitative health care to develop skills essential to restore independence, including: Physical Therapy; Occupational Therapy; Speech Therapy; Cardiac Therapy; and short term as well as long term skilled nursing.
At this meeting, Chamber member Lori Johnson, from Emery & Webb Insurance, brought a guest speaker, Rebecca Rogers from Frank Rogers and Associates, a division of Emery & Webb. Rebecca is a health care insurance specialist and provided an excellent summary of the new health care laws as well as complex Medicare supplement information. This subject is very important to small businesses in understanding how the changes affect their businesses. Town Supervisor, David Kelly, indicated that Rebecca has worked with the town on their health insurance and has been a valuable resource. Rebecca can be reached at Emery & Webb’s offices in Fishkill.
Chamber President, Peter Cris, talked about the ongoing collaborative effort of the Mayor, Town Supervisor and The Chamber regarding the economic development of Pawling. Marie Stewart, Chamber Secretary and Events Chair, mentioned the Pawling Classic Car show will be held on June 9th, with June 23rd as the rain date. David Kelly, Town Supervisor, reminded everyone to “Save the Date” of June 15th, for the dedication of the Appalachian Trail Communities of Wingdale and Pawling, with many events that day…watch for additional information to be announced soon.
