If you’ve driven down Route 22 lately, you’ve surely seen the renovations that Patterson Auto Body has been undergoing. Although they are not quite finished, the change is visible, inside and out. I was lucky enough to catch Jim Byron, the co-owner of Patterson Auto Body, for a quick interview.
When I first walked into the office, I was assisted by several friendly employees who directed me to Jim. The interior of the building was spacious and chic, with attractive countertops and big, bright windows. I soon found out this renovation was in fact the most recent of four since Jim and co-owner Ron Christie began the business in 1983.
Thirty years later, Patterson Auto Body’s humble beginnings have translated into a wide array of services available to the community. The business boasts two locations, the second situated five miles down the road in Brewster (1450 Route 22), with the goal of “serving more vehicles and a larger demographic pool.” Patterson Auto Body employs eleven skilled craftsmen who handle hundreds of repairs per month. Painting, four wheel alignment, collision repair, preventative maintenance, free estimates, and round-the-clock towing are just a few of the services they offer. Jim proudly mentioned the full-time AGRSS-certified glass installer that he employs, as well as his two downdraft spray booths with waterborne paint systems. All of these services are “in-house,” so Patterson Auto Body is really a one-stop-shop for any automotive needs.
Another great feature that Patterson Auto Body can offer consumers is a comprehensive website, complete with contact info, a list of services offered, appointment scheduling capability, and even a live chat feature.
“The web is a great portal,” Jim stated, adding confidently that as new technology begins to develop, Patterson Auto Body will grow along with it. Visit http://www.pattersonautobody.com/ to explore the site!
Services and website aside, one of Patterson Auto Body’s biggest appeals is its community-centered atmosphere.
“We are locally owned and operated,” Jim pointed out, describing the business as “family-driven.” He is proud to have raised his children in the same community where he works, and knows that his customers and staff value the homegrown nature of the company as well.
Jim Byron is articulate and personable, and his love for his job is apparent. He describes himself and Mr. Christie as two car aficionados who, at a young age, entertained dreams of working in the automotive industry.
“I’m truly blessed,” Jim says, “that my childhood love of the automobile could translate into a business and a good quality of life.”
